Joseph Potvin

Managing Director

Joseph is the lead theorist and designer of the Data With Direction Specification (DWDS) for an Internet of Rules. He coordinates the Rules-as-Data business concept, systems design, operational planning, customer service orientation, and project management.

Customer Service Role

Joseph assists clients directly through systems analysis (people, operations, and infrastructure) across all phases, from sales demos to implementation, to achieve and maintain measurable improvements in effectiveness and efficiency with an Internet of Rules based on the Data With Direction Specification.

Internal Role

Joseph assists generally, and the Rules-as-Data team in particular, with IoR conceptual coherence, end-to-end system design, technical methods, client service optimization, and market positioning, while also operationally coordinating personnel and resources to ensure optimal IoR outcomes for clients and for the company. He communicates with all involved for informed decisions and continuous improvement.

Nhamo Mtetwa

Data Scientist

Nhamo coordinates conceptual and technical work on a high-frequency transactions reference implementation of DWDS, and supports others in understanding DWD Rules-as-Data concepts, benefits, and significance in operational business settings.

Customer Service Role

Nhamo assists the onboarding of technical and management personnel as independent users and community participants, through in-person and online workshops and seminars, and published materials.

Internal Role

Nhamo designs and guides a developer team creating a reference implementation of RuleReserve and RuleTaker with tabular data processing as described in the decentralized DWDS specification, as an indirect derivative of the centralized tableBASE method. The deployed system is designed to be fast enough to support the discovery and invocation of rules (e.g. SEC and FINRA rules) in high-frequency trading scenarios. Nhamo is also responsible for advancing the technological scope of the Rules-as-Data customer service menu — for example, how the DWDS finite state grammar may enable more effective and efficient client use of emergent generative language models.

Huda Hussain

Software Designer/Developer

Huda is the lead software developer of the RuleMaker reference implementation (using the Svelte framework for JavaScript), and is an apprentice developer learning her way in the Rust systems programming language to support RuleReserve and RuleTaker.

Customer Service Role

Huda provides software technical support and issue response services to clients for the RuleMaker application, and is available for customization, enhancement, and set-up of client-hosted instances. She provides source code walk-throughs for technical personnel, and responds to ad hoc questions and requests.

Internal Role

Huda gives the Rules-as-Data team intuitive and responsive design, balancing usability with performance and scalability, as well as the optimization of data structures, algorithms, programming code, memory usage, latency, and overall system complexity. She monitors on an ongoing basis to ensure optimizations remain effective as applications evolve through multiple versions.

Jacob Kelter

Complex Dynamic Systems Modeler

Jacob specializes in technology-assisted education. Rules-as-Data enables novel complex system characteristics, which he (and his extensive network) can model using the NetLogo agent-based models platform, licensed free/libre/open as all of the DWD reference implementations are.

Customer Service Role

Jacob can assist Opman's clients to anticipating the emergent effects of the changes made feasible by DWD 'Rules-as-Data' capabilities, and incremental proliferation of 'an Internet of Rules'.

Internal Role

Jacob is a thought-leader in applied agent-based modeling methods. He built the "General-Purpose Economic Petri Dish" which Joseph Potvin described, and their joint paper on this, with Netlogo founder Uri Wilensky, received the Best Paper Award at the 2022 Conference of the Computational Social Science Society of the Americas.

Jelle Begeyn

Legal Lead

Jelle is an international trade specialist and self-taught builder specializing in customs, rules of origin, and regulatory compliance, as well as a self-taught software designer/developer. He is responsible for grounding DWD Rules-as-Data implementations in accurate legal analysis of the source law that they operationalize.

Customer Service Role

Jelle works directly with clients to identify and analyze the legal and regulatory frameworks (trade agreements, customs regulations, compliance obligations) that an IoR/DWDS implementation must faithfully capture, drawing on his World Trade Organization (WTO, Geneva) experience across digital trade policy, e-commerce negotiations, and comparative regulatory analysis.

Internal Role

Jelle is committed to legal accuracy and defensibility across the Rules-as-Data team's rule encodings, translating primary legal sources into DWD Rule Arrays and DWD Lookup Arrays for the technical team to implement. Drawing on his own hands-on experience building AI/rules-based tools, he assesses the legal soundness and interpretive fidelity of the DWDS framework as it is applied to various new regulatory domains. He also assists with user experience/human factors and project management.
